However, you can only reach there by boat, with goggles and a snorkel. We promise it will be a unique snorkeling experience.
Some of the best places for this once-in-a-lifetime experience in Croatia vary greatly from island to island and bay to bay. At Prima Sailing, we have selected the TOP spots of different underwater environments for you in one place.
DANČE, DUBROVNIK
Danče Beach is one of the most popular and oldest beaches in Dalmatia, as it has very deep and somewhat cooler sea than elsewhere. For this reason, this beach is not the best choice for children and weak swimmers. However, it is extremely popular for snorkeling, also because it is surrounded by high cliffs and has completely turquoise water. If you are going sailing, this is definitely one of the beaches you must visit, as the underwater world, which thrives due to the openness of the sea, will truly enchant you.
Sveta Marija, Mljet
If you want to snorkel in a national park, you will be thrilled with the offer of Mljet and the islet of Sveta Marija. In the brackish water, there are many fish and marine organisms just waiting to be discovered. The national park, surrounded by the sea, merges into two saltwater lakes - Malo and Veliko Lake. In the center of the largest lake is the islet of Sveta Marija, where salt and fresh water meet, bringing with it a very diverse underwater world and consequently rich snorkeling. An additional plus is the fact that the water in the lakes is warmer, and you don't have to worry about waves. Underwater, you will discover a rich archaeological cultural heritage of their ancestors, which is still carefully preserved, as it is their first protected marine area.
Porto Rosso, Island of Lastovo
Porto Rosso or the hidden harbor is located 7 NM south of the island of Korčula, where the untouched island and natural park Lastovo is. On the southern part of the island, there is an area with protected animals and plants, which means that the environment hidden underwater is also untouched and undisturbed. This location is one of the best for snorkeling, as it is remote from the crowds.
Krasnica Ali Vanga, Brijuni
Krasnica is one of the fourteen Brijuni islands. In the 1st century, a small Roman settlement was built on the eastern coast, the length of the coastal strip is 2.7 km, and its shape resembles the number eight. This part of the Croatian national park also boasts turquoise water, clear sea, and beautiful surroundings. Snorkeling here is perfect, as it is a protected location with calm sea and excellent visibility. An ideal location in all weather conditions. Vanga was Tito's paradise on earth, and everything is still as it was 38 years ago. Croatian authorities only allowed entry to the island last year, where Tito's villa with orchards and a vineyard, producing Malvasia, Merlot, and Muscat, is hidden. While diving and fishing in this area are strictly prohibited, visitors and tourists are encouraged to snorkel and swim, as this area offers a rich and full marine life.
Tarsce, Pakleni Islands, Hvar
Near the town of Hvar, there is another gem that is very popular among sailors - Sveti Klement, Tarsce. This is a location where the view from the deck of a sailboat or boat certainly reaches five meters or more in depth. So you can catch a moving jellyfish or an octopus hiding under the sand on the seabed with the naked eye. Imagine what you can experience while snorkeling. This remote part of the Pakleni Islands archipelago is a wonderful place to explore nature and relax in the company of the sea. The southern part of the bay is more exposed, but for most of the year, the weather and water are calm and very suitable for snorkeling or just a stop with a sailboat.
Rt Kršine, Premantura
The Kršine Peninsula is another great adventurous location for snorkeling, but for the more daring. It is a beach with an excellent coastline, where the bravest jump into the sea from dangerously high cliffs. The rocky seabed offers interesting scenes of life under crystal clear water. Be careful while snorkeling, as the current at this cape can quickly surprise you with its strength, so be cautious when entering the sea and swimming.
Most of the above-mentioned magical snorkeling locations are most easily accessible by sailboat. If you also want an unforgettable experience above and below the sea surface, then check out our offer HERE.
Wishing you a pleasant and hot summer, the Prima Sailing team.
